Employers’ Apprenticeship Toolkit

Need advice in getting to grips with Apprenticeships?

Thousands of businesses are using apprenticeships to help them grow. Whether they are recruiting new talent into the business or developing existing staff, these businesses have chosen apprenticeships to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours they need to succeed.

No longer just for young people, apprenticeships help staff of all ages and levels progress in work. They can include degrees or chartered status and provide a valuable pathway to develop the right staff, your way – no matter what sector businesses are operating in.

So how do I get the best information on Apprenticeships?

The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub has created this new Employers’ Apprenticeship Toolkit to help businesses and intermediaries in the area get to grips with the issues surrounding taking on and developing apprentices.

The toolkit supports businesses in navigating apprenticeship policy reforms and funding, including the apprenticeship levy.  It also signposts towards local and national resources and demonstrates how apprenticeship training can help businesses of any size and sector fill their skills gaps and meet their growth aspirations.

How can this guide help my business?

This guide is for businesses based in Lancashire and aims to explain how apprenticeship training can link their aspirations, so they can:

  • Attract and develop the best local talent
  • Support existing staff to gain the skills needed to move through their organisation
  • Bring specialists into the company to grow and explore new markets

Here at the Skills Hub we are keen to support businesses to employ and develop people in this region. We believe apprenticeships now provide a breadth of opportunity to employers that has not been available previously.

We hope this guide spells out those opportunities in a clear, impartial manner. If you need further local advice on developing and growing your business then contact us

or check out the Lancashire Skills Pledge, where knowledgeable professionals can contact you to discuss how apprenticeships will benefit your business.
