This former cotton mill built in 1832 is now the home for Lancashire Adult Learning. Lancashire Adult Learning aims to provide learning opportunities for adults across the region with the Northlight building providing a fantastic facility for learning to take place. Located in Brierfield, Nelson, close to junction 12 of the M65 and easily accessible from Burnley and the surrounding areas of Colne, Clitheroe, Blackburn and Preston.
We have a range of training, conference and meeting rooms that are available to hire, in this new modern centre with a staffed reception area and facilities for light refreshments. The rooms range from small interview rooms to larger rooms which can be used for team workshops or small conferences. All rooms can be configured to suit any kind event. With full multimedia facilities and a separate IT training suite Northlight offers a great venue for hosting a meeting, workshop, conference or training event.

The Hub is home to one of the UK’s highest specification Computer Augmented Virtual Environment (CAVE) facilities, which enables interdisciplinary innovation in teaching and learning, research and enterprise. The CAVE combines high-resolution, stereoscopic projections and 3D computer graphics to create a complete sense of presence in a computer simulated world; all in 4k resolution. The CAVE is an interdisciplinary centre for resilience training and performance enhancement through simulation, primarily for emergency, disaster and medical triage scenarios. The Tech Hub also houses state-of-the-art biotechnology laboratories, big data servers, a dedicated games programming lab, a secure networking lab and a Harvard style lecture theatre.
The Employability, Enterprise, Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E3i) team at Edge Hill University is a dedicated team focused on supporting the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Their main goal is to enhance student employability and promote the growth of ambitious businesses in the region.
