Are you interested in offering a placement within your business to a university student? This presents an opportunity for them to immerse themselves in your organisation, making meaningful contributions to your business operations while acquiring essential hands-on experience and cultivating new skills. Additionally, would you like to participate in university initiatives with a partnering university? This presents countless opportunities, one of which is fostering a collaborative and rewarding relationship with the institution.
Description
Pledging to offer a placement to a university student offers many benefits to your organisation and workforce, one of which is gaining a fresh perspective from someone currently training within the sector.
What does a placement look like?
- 12-month placement: students would step away from their studies to complete a 12-month placement within your business.
- Part-time placement: students can take on placements of up to 20 hours a week alongside their studies, these placements can range in duration from weeks to months.
- All placements facilitated through the University of Central Lancashire must be paid at least National Minimum Wage.
Additionally, pledging to engage in university initiatives can offer a host of benefits, such as access to cutting-edge research, testing facilities, academic expertise, knowledge transfer partnerships, degree apprenticeships, CPD, and student placements. This provides businesses with a competitive edge and helps them stay ahead of the game in a rapidly changing business environment.
Benefits to Businesses
Pledging to offer a placement to a university student and/or participate in university initiatives can offer many benefits to your business:
- Theory in practice: Students bring new and innovative ideas to the workplace. Their fresh perspective and exposure to the latest academic theories can contribute to creative problem-solving and introduce new approaches to existing business practice.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: students are accustomed to a high level of adaptability and a willingness to learn. Their exposure to different technologies and methodologies in their academic studies can make them quick learners, enabling them to adapt to new challenges within the business, and overall increase productivity.
- Positive collaboration: Businesses that actively engage with universities and their initiatives can enhance their collaboration within the academic community. This positive association can enhance your public profile by supporting your local community as well as helping to build strong relationships with a university.
