Inclusive Recruitment: Strengthening Employer Practice Across Lancashire

The Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub hosted a highly successful Inclusive Recruitment training session on 18th March 2026 at the Samlesbury Hotel, bringing together employers from across the county to explore practical ways to build more inclusive and supportive workplaces.

The session was delivered by Daniel Armitage from Neurosparks, a Burnley-based organisation with extensive, first-hand expertise in inclusive recruitment. Over the course of the three hour workshop, Daniel provided employers with clear, practical guidance on how inclusive recruitment practices can attract and retain talent, support employees managing health conditions, and contribute to a more resilient and effective workforce.

The event focused on the essential role inclusive recruitment plays in helping people enter, remain, and progress in work. Employers took part in discussions covering:

  • How to remove barriers within recruitment processes
  • Ways to support individuals with health conditions to stay in work
  • Practical steps organisations can implement immediately
  • The wider benefits of inclusive practice for retention and workforce stability

Feedback from attendees highlighted the value of the session’s practical tools and realworld examples, which many employers plan to embed within their recruitment and HR processes.

Strengthening employer understanding of inclusive recruitment remains a key priority for the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub. Events like these support organisations to:

  • Improve recruitment outcomes
  • Build more diverse and resilient teams
  • Create supportive environments where employees can thrive
  • Align with wider employment and health initiatives across Lancashire

The session also provided an opportunity for employers to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in improving employment outcomes across the county.

For employers who were unable to attend, further sessions are already being planned. The Hub aims to expand engagement and ensure even more organisations can access the support and guidance needed to strengthen their recruitment practices.

Details of the next session will be shared with Lancashire Skills Pledge employers and on the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub’s LinkedIn page in due course.

Employers are encouraged to join and continue building inclusive approaches that benefit both their workforce and the wider Lancashire community.
