Food and Farming Innovation & Technology (FFIT) Project

Myerscough College

The Food and Farming Innovation and Technology (FFIT) Centre and associated Livestock Innovation Centre are located at Myerscough Colleges Lodge Farm adjacent to the main college campus. The centre provides a unique environment to allow business development, conferencing and knowledge transfer activities. The centre is equipped with the latest technology for livestock data recording and analysis to demonstrate how agri-businesses can utilise technology to become more productive and profitable.

The FFIT Centre provides facilities suitable for strategic research, industrial trials and product development targeted at the wider landbased industries. Facilities to support these activities include a teaching laboratory, data / IT room linked to on farm data sensors, field laboratory for processing and preserving material and a food product development facility.

The FFIT Centre also provides conference and meeting facilities including two conference rooms, two meeting breakout rooms, social and dining areas and can accommodate conferences up to 100 people. The use of the conference facilities are not restricted and any business can benefit from the facility.

Lancashire Centre of Excellence for Digital Technology and Innovation

Accrington and Rossendale College

The Risual Showcase Classroom is a state of the art multi-function room with a number of desktop PC’s allowing for exploration of all Windows and Microsoft applications. The room also gives access to a number of Surface Pro 4 tablets so learners can work in a mobile fashion. The room can be used as a traditional training room or as a concept classroom with breakaway areas.

The Telecoms Training Suite provides an industry standard training environment that will meet the demand of employers for skills in installing, maintaining and upgrading telecoms systems

The facility is aimed at employers within the digital technology sector, alongside all employers with a need for digital skills with a particular remit in IT infrastructure and telecoms professionals.

Blackpool & The Fylde College

Lancashire Energy HQ is a state-of-the-art training centre for the energy and environmental sector. It features:

  • the education sector’s largest renewable and nuclear simulator in England
  • three large engineering and renewable technologies workshops; a metals engineering laboratory
  • a purpose-built welding facility
  • resource centre equipped with Auto CAD software
  • training rooms of varying sizes featuring touch-screen display monitors
  • excellent links to the M55 motorway, Blackpool South rail line (Squires Gate station) and air access via the adjacent Blackpool Airport
