Nicola Mortimer
Operations Director
Nicola is the Operations Director of Milliamp Technologies an independent contract electronics design and manufacturing specialist based in Lancaster. Milliamp Technologies, whilst a SME, is globally recognised as experts in their field by some of the largest semiconductor companies in the world. Nicola is responsible for the day to day operational aspects of Milliamp Technologies including strategy, project engineering, quality and business development.
Nicola is passionate about environmental sustainability and is also a Director of Purple Renewables, an onshore wind renewables consultancy helping clients develop medium scale wind energy schemes from 500kW to 5MW, primarily in industrial locations around the UK such as East Midlands Airport but also locally at Dewlay Cheese in Garstang!
Nicola is also a Director at ChargeMyStreet a CIC based in Lancaster which solves the problem of EV charging for people who don’t have financial resources or are without a driveway (over 40% of UK households). ChargeMyStreet works with residents to identify charge point locations, raise the investment through community shares and install the charge point. It generates revenue through selling electricity which goes to paying back the investments. Currently ChargeMyStreet is working on a £38M UK Government funded project deploying EV charge points across England.
Recently Nicola has stepped into the role of programme manager for Tech Lancaster a consortium of six electronics companies who are running a skills training course funded by the DCMS to address the skills gap in the electronics sector and provide industry led top up training to make people work ready for our sector.
